Travel Booking App & OTA Tier List: From Agoda to Yanolja
Every trip I end up juggling five apps just to compare one hotel price. So here's my personal tier list of the travel booking apps and OTAs I actually use, ranked S to C. It covers Asia hotels, global stays, domestic Korea trips, and flight meta-search, with honest notes on what each one is genuinely good for.

Agoda
For anywhere in Asia I honestly open Agoda first. It tends to have the deepest hotel inventory in cities like Bangkok, Da Nang, or Osaka, and the price is often the lowest of the bunch. The in-app coupons and cashback add up too. As a Korean traveler booking Southeast Asia stays, this is my baseline, so it earns an easy S.

Booking.com
Booking.com's strength is that no matter where you poke, something shows up. For small European towns or awkward regions, nothing else covers the map this widely. Plenty of rooms come with free cancellation, which is a relief when plans are still fluid. The interface is intuitive enough for a rushed last-minute booking. Solid S for me.

Yanolja
For domestic Korea trips or a spur-of-the-moment room, Yanolja is where my hand goes first. Its coverage of local motels, hotels, and pensions is clearly on another level, and same-day booking is painless. It has also folded in leisure and activity reservations lately, widening what you can do in one app. Overseas coverage is still thin, so A within the domestic lane.

Skyscanner
When I'm sizing up flight prices, I get nervous without Skyscanner. The flexible-date and 'cheapest month' view is genuinely useful early in trip planning. It doesn't ticket directly; it hands you off to the airline or an agency, so you should read the checkout step carefully. But as a comparison tool it's top-class, so A.

Airbnb
When I want a place with character that hotels just don't offer, nothing beats Airbnb. For a longer stay with family or friends, renting a whole home with a kitchen can actually come out cheaper. The catch is that quality swings a lot by host, and cleaning fees can push the total higher than expected. The appeal is real, so A.
- B
GoodChoice
GoodChoice feels like it splits the domestic room market with Yanolja, so I keep both open to compare. Sometimes its promotions are stronger and I've grabbed the same room cheaper here. Still, the inventory depth and extra services feel a notch behind Yanolja, so it lands at B for me. For a Korea trip, though, it's basically a must-have alongside its rival.

Expedia
Expedia quietly gives decent numbers when you bundle a flight with a hotel as a package. You can even fold a rental car into the same booking, which was handy planning a road trip in the US or Europe. That said, for a standalone Asia hotel, a Korean traveler often finds Agoda cheaper. It's situational, so I settled it at B.
- C
Hotels.com
I used to keep Hotels.com around for the old 'stay 10 nights, get 1 free' stamp system, but once that reward changed, the reason to insist on it faded. It's part of the Expedia group, so inventory and prices often overlap with siblings. It isn't bad, but I never reach for it before the others, so honestly C feels right.
- C
Trivago
Trivago is a meta-search that compares prices across several booking sites on one screen, so you don't actually book here. You end up bounced back to Agoda or Booking.com anyway, which adds an extra step. The jingle is unforgettable, but in practice there are plenty of other comparison tools now and I rarely open it, so C.
