Sony
The autofocus lead is still holding. Real-time tracking locks onto eyes and stays there in situations where competitors hunt, and that difference shows up immediately with moving subjects. Opening the E-mount to Sigma and Tamron produced a lens catalog nobody else matches on price or breadth. Menus remain convoluted and the default color is flat, but as a working tool it is the most complete.

Canon
Skin tones come out of the camera usable without correction, which still separates it from everyone else and saves real time on portrait work. Controls are laid out so that picking up an unfamiliar body costs you a few minutes rather than an afternoon. Keeping the RF mount closed to third parties for so long was a genuine strategic weakness. Output consistency keeps it at the top anyway.

Fujifilm
Film simulations are not a filter layer but a change in how you shoot, since committing to a look before pressing the shutter removes most of the editing afterward. Dial-based controls and the body designs make you want to carry the camera, which matters more than spec sheets admit. Autofocus trails the top two, and popular models stay out of stock for months at a time.

Nikon
Pick up a Z8 or Zf and the grip and shutter feel tell you this company has been making cameras a very long time. Recent Z lenses review extremely well optically and in-body stabilization is more than adequate. The gap is ecosystem velocity, since third-party lens and accessory support is narrower than Sony's once you start expanding. The images themselves give up nothing.

Panasonic LUMIX
No brand gives you more video capability per dollar. Recording limits and codec options are generous where competitors hold features back for pricier models, and in-body stabilization is strong enough for handheld walking shots without a gimbal. Autofocus was the long-standing weakness and phase detection on recent bodies narrowed it. Rated much higher if your work leans toward video.

Leica
Build quality and the experience of using one genuinely sit on a different plane, and certain lenses render in a way that is hard to replicate. The difficulty is that this list ranks on practical satisfaction, and the same money buys dramatically more capability elsewhere. You are buying taste and object quality rather than performance, which is a legitimate reason that simply ranks low here.
